Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 26 July 2016. Mr. Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg following their visionary trip to fly 40,000km without fuel succeeded. The Solar Impulse 2 (Si2) – a zero-emission electric and solar airplane completed its journey with a total of 21 days of flight travelled in a 17-leg journey. An impossible dream that not even Jules Verne in Le tour du monde en quatre-vingts jours could have imagined.
This flight will set a milestone of the development of clean technologies, reduction of natural resources and improving of life quality. Both Swiss pioneers will continue will continue working in the creation of the International Committee for Clean Technologies and leverage the expertise and technology gained over the years in Solar Impulse by launching new innovative projects, such as the development of solar powered drones.
